Swimmer Information

Volunteer Policy

PTAC has a volunteer policy which is part of the registration package. Parents need to read and complete the form as part of registration. A copy of the policy is located on the Volunteer Information page.

League Rule

GCSL has a league rule that PTAC swimmers my not swim or compete for any other summer only swim team. Parents will be certifying this on the registration form.

Swim Meet Information

The coaches will use evaluations to determine who swims in Wednesday GCSL and Saturday COSA developmental meets.
GCSL:  Wednesday meets begin at 6:00 pm with warm-ups starting at 5:00 pm. Diving warm-ups are at 3:00 pm with the diving meet starting at 3:30 pm.

COSA:  Saturday meets generally start at 9:00 am with warm-ups starting between 8:00 am
and 8:15 am depending on the pool hosting the meet.

Cut-off times are used for developmental meets. Once your child is faster than a cut-off time, he/she would not be allowed to take part in that specific event in developmental COSA meets as they are ready for GCSL for the particular event. The swimmer can still swim in the other COSA events where they are below the cut off time.

TIME CONVERTING:  PTAC swims at pool of various lengths. Our home pool is a meter pool which is longer than the pools in most high schools. You can find pool length on the Meet Schedule and Maps page. In order to convert your swimmer's time between meter and yard pools, use the link below to access a swim time converter.

2017 SWIM

Regular Season Practices Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Ages 13 and up: 7:30 am to 8:30 am
Ages 11-12: 8:00 am to 9:00 am
Ages 9 - 10: 8:30 am to 9:30 am
Ages 7 - 8:   9:15 am to 10:00 am
Ages 6 and under: 9:30 am to 10:00 am

Friday practices will be Fun Friday's.  All age groups will practice together from 9:00 am-10:00 am.

Eating Healthy Snacks and Meals Before and During Meet Days

Eating healthy gives our swimmers and divers the best recovery through out the summer, with daily workouts, multiple meets during the week, and dealing with the summer heat that each swimmer/diver needs to replace the energy used.

Remember that during the swim/dive meet drinking plenty of fluids (mostly water) and eating small amounts of carbohydrate-rich foods low-fat snacks (fresh fruit, whole grain crackers, pretzels, bagels, rice cakes, fruit bars, smoothies, and nonfat yogurt) are the key for replenishing the body's fuel source. You do want to avoid anything that has too much fat, fiber, or protein as these nutrients slow down digestion (cookies, candy bars, and potato chips).
